Project Description:
Ground Up Construction of 90,00 Square Foot Structural Steel Building with Brick Skin on an active military Naval Air Station immediately following 9-11-01

Problem/Challenge:

• Proposed site elevations conflicted with existing infrastructure invert of the base and would not have allowed the site to drain properly
• Existing site utility drawing errors of up to twenty feet
• Elevated security level immediately following 9-11-01
• Extremely aggressive completion schedule
• Required to maintain all base roads debris-free during all weather conditions

Corrective Action

• Created a topographical graph and supporting documentation of existing canals, drainage ditches, and water flow allowing for redesign of site plan in order to correct proposed site elevation errors
• Utilized a water jet to cut 8' x 32' trenches every 20' to 30' in order to properly identify existing site utilities and fiber optic cable
• Created a custom employee, subcontractor, and supplier database which the military base utilized extensively to monitor all construction activities
• Utilized multiple shifts and a seven day per week working schedule. Effective management of all subtrades.
• Constructed and maintained a custom- made Wash-Off/Containment Station to effectively control debris
