Crews to unveil a massive, 36-foot lighted sign
WHAT: An historic, prestigious New Orleans building is set to reopen under the JUNG name for the first time in 46 years. To commemorate the upcoming, winter opening, The New Orleans Hotel Collection and MCC Development, working with signage supplier OPA Signs & Graphics, will be unveiling the 36-foot lighted blade for the New JUNG HOTEL AND RESIDENCES – a $140 million re-imagination and restoration of the Canal Street icon. The 36-foot lighted blade is a literal sign marking the near-completion of the massive multi-use development.

Originally opened in 1908, The Jung Hotel expanded in 1925 during the “Jazz Age” with live music offerings, and it quickly became the most prestigious hotel in New Orleans. Through the years, the hotel’s most famous attribute was its rooftop Tulane Ballroom which played host to numerous Mardi Gras balls, grand cotillions, proms and a 1964 appearance by President Lyndon Johnson.

Today, The Jung anchors “Upper Canal Street” and sits at the heart of the area’s resurgence as a Biomedical Innovation District. it will incorporate retail, rooftop pool experiences, restaurants and bars, 207 upscale, oversized guest rooms and 113 one and two-bedroom apartments with luxury-level services. With 21,000 sq. ft. of flexible meeting and event space, The Jung can accommodate executive meetings of 10 to receptions of up to 1,000 guests. A 12,000-sq. ft. exhibit hall will be the ideal location for large displays. A business center will be open for 24-hour printing as well as mail and package services for the neighborhood.
